Remo: A tool for Technical Maintenance
Role: UX/UI Designer
Sector: Critical, preventive and corrective maintenance for technological solutions
Year: 2021-2022
At the beginning of 2021 I had the opportunity to assume the role of UX and UI designer for one of the most important projects within Creativería for Grupo Electrotécnica/Soporte Crítico called Remo.
The client, Soporte Crítico, is a regional leader in the technical service of critical systems such as data centers, power plants and electromechanical installations. Part of their job is to ensure that all these systems meet and exceed their performance expectations.
Remo is therefore a progressive web application focused on working on iPads that allows the management and maintenance of technological equipment. Where the main users are maintenance technicians, simplifying communication processes, planning and tracking tasks.
Among the main facilities offered by this app is to display technical information, customer data, equipment data, workflows and processes, history and tracking of the tasks of the entire team involved and the generation of visit reports for their client, which supports the work done.
This tool was born with the objective of reducing paperwork and errors when documenting the work performed, allowing for optimization and better fulfillment of the jobs.
Challenges:
Initially one of the main challenge in taking on this work, was to understand the operation and previous work, since the app has existed since 2017. In addition to using a language and operation very attached to the technical aspect.
However, from the research of processes, interviews with users, stakeholders I was able to understand, lead and organize processes for the operation and improvements of the app.
One of the main objectives was to involve the users in each improvement opportunity and new functionalities, since there were several flows that hindered its use.
Therefore, together with the team dedicated to the project, we conducted studies of needs and validation of solutions to constantly improve it.
Roles and tasks:
UX Design: research, organization of workshops with users, sessions with stakeholders to obtain feedback and validate processes, validation of proposals with users, documentation, information architecture, wireframes and generation of online training for users.
UI Design: evaluation of the interaction between the user and the graphical interface, interface design including components generation and the use of the Design System.
